Aboitiz Foods, through Pilmico, Supports the Philippine Army in Community Outreach Efforts in Sitio Tangan-Tangan, Tarlac

Mar 12, 2025

Aboitiz Foods, through its subsidiary Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corporation (Pilmico), supported the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Armor Division (Philippine Army) in a community outreach activity in Sitio Tangan-Tangan, San Jose, Tarlac.

Residents of Sitio Tangan-Tangan, a remote community in the mountains, face challenges accessing food, healthcare, and education. The route from the nearest military camp to Sitio Tangan-Tangan is difficult, crossing 13 rivers and taking over two hours by army trucks. For teachers and other civilians, the journey normally takes three to four hours by motorcycle. However, when water levels rise or during rainy conditions, they must navigate the mountains on foot.

On February 7, 2025, Aboitiz Foods donated 215 trays of eggs during the gift-giving and feeding activity organized by the Philippine Army for the residents of Sitio Tangan-Tangan. Lieutenant Colonel Ryan V. Villar, Commanding Officer of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion along with members of the Philippine Army, Pinky Baroman, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Specialist of Aboitiz Foods, and other private stakeholders participated in the event.  They aimed to inspire and uplift the residents through a goat-raising livelihood project funded by the local government to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

As a partner in nourishing communities, Pinky Baroman, Aboitiz Foods Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist, expresses gratitude to the Philippine Army for its efforts in reaching smaller communities across the country.

Baroman highlights the importance of sustainable livelihoods for the development of smaller communities. “We fully support the government and the Philippine Army in their livelihood programs and community outreach activities that help uplift the livelihoods of the communities in geographically disadvantaged areas. With the right support and strong partnerships, we believe that sustainable livelihoods truly help transform communities for the better,” she said.

As of 2024, Aboitiz Foods, through Pilmico has distributed 1,929 livelihood kits to over 1,093 beneficiaries from various communities nationwide. The livelihood kits program was done in collaboration with different government agencies, local government units, and private sectors in line with its mission of,  “Sustainably Feeding Asia’s growth from mill to meal”.
