Nourishing Communities: Pilmico partners with the Department of Agrarian Reform for sustainable livelihoods

Pilmico Foods Corporation (Pilmico), in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), held a Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony to formalize an agreement to distribute Pilmico livelihood kits to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Kalibo, Aklan and Barobo, Surigao Del Sur. This initiative, which has been ongoing since 2017, aims to empower ARBOs by providing livelihood opportunities that enhance their skills and create sustainable sources of income for the beneficiaries.

On January 31, Pilmico distributed egg machines, that enable beneficiaries to sell fresh eggs to customers, and bakery kits supporting the production and sale of fresh bread to the Rosario Multi-purpose Cooperative and the Dumlog Coconut Farmers Multi-purpose Cooperative in Kalibo, Aklan. Meanwhile, ARBO beneficiaries in Barobo, Surigao del Sur, received the Project Omelette kit. These livelihood kits equip beneficiaries to establish their own poultry or bakery businesses, fostering community entrepreneurship.

The Pilmico livelihood kit program is a flagship corporate social responsibility initiative that started in 2013. This project provides individuals or organizations with sustainable livelihood opportunities through kits and technical support and helps beneficiaries earn extra income as they face rising prices and the impacts of the pandemic. 

As of 2024, Pilmico has distributed 1,929 livelihood kits to over 1,093 beneficiaries nationwide.
