The elderly are the pillars of our communities, carrying with them wisdom, experience, and tradition. Yet, they are often among the most overlooked. Aboitiz Foods, through Gold Coin China, recognizes this and remains steadfast in its commitment to uplifting the well-being of its communities through meaningful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. By addressing specific local needs and providing targeted support, these efforts help foster resilience and well-being among those who need it most.
On November 1, Gold Coin China Dongguan, in collaboration with the Dongguan local government, hosted a community event for the elderly residents of Zhangpeng Community. The program, held at the Village Committee of Zhangpeng, Machong, Dongguan, Guangdong, China, provided support to 550 beneficiaries, including individuals aged 80 and older and persons with disabilities.
The event began with an introduction by Dr. Kar Ching Ong, Country Director of Gold Coin China, who welcomed attendees and highlighted the company’s commitment to community welfare. The Gold Coin Dongguan team then distributed gift packs worth a total of CNY 110,000. Each pack contained daily essentials such as cooking oil, rice, noodles, and flour, providing much-needed support to help the beneficiaries meet their everyday needs. After distributing essential goods to the elderly beneficiaries, the team visited the households of two elderly individuals with disabilities, to offer additional care and support.
